Why is it....
That when one child has a birthday party the other one has to have the hump? Is it just the age? (8 going on 46) have the hormones already started? Is it the way the wind is blowing? is it just pure jealousy or is there a deep sinister demon lurking within my No. 1 daughter who takes over frequently and gives rise to the most appalling behaviour ever seen.
Mind you on canvassing friends of mine with girls of similar age it would seem that we are experiencing an epidemic of such demons, as all of their daughters seem to be likewise infected.
Now Sunday morning before my first cup of coffee is not a good time to be hitting me to referee prospective birthday party invitees!
My brain did slowly work out that perhaps that No. 1 daughter would like to invite a friend herself - just to give her someone to play with. I mean, when it was her cinema birthday outing, No. 2 daughter had a friend along, so I think its pretty fair. That sorted the sulky look started to clear from No. 1 daughter's face, but I don't think its going to clear for long today.
And while we are asking these questions of the universe, why is it that every time the much beloved and I get chance for some time together without the children about something goes wrong? So far I've been ill, I've had a period on, he's been ill and one of the girls have been ill..... I'm starting to wonder if someone up there doesn't want us to have time to enjoy each other's bodies and have lots of loud sex without worrying that the children will wake up or walk in.
Still he's got a new contract working in Liverpool for the next 10 months, which is a bit closer to home, although I think it will still mean him being away for most of the week like before. At least when he does get home on a Friday night he might not be so knackered and it might lead to a better weekend. I guess time will tell.
Anyway, I'm back off to bed now with my coffee for a cuddle while the girls watch TV and addle their brains for a while. Which I suppose is only fair as they haven't had any for nearly a fortnight now....
